Groupe Arex IA Inc. is a Montréal AI health technology startup developing intelligent, voice-driven digital health platforms that bridge the gap between clinical visits for older adults and chronic care patients. Operating under the trade brand Arex AI, we focus on empowering seniors with natural spoken interactions, eliminating the frustration of complex smartphone screens and microscopic text.

Our flagship innovation is MacuCoach™, an accessible patient-support companion app specifically designed for older adults living with age-related macular degeneration. MacuCoach™ provides daily voice guidance for AREDS2 vitamin adherence, carotenoid-rich Mediterranean nutrition, cardiovascular physical movement, and monocular Amsler grid self-checks.

Executive Leadership & Founder

Founder: Dr. Mahmood Piraee, PhD, PharmD. Dr. Piraee brings over two decades of combined experience in pharmacology, molecular biology, and healthcare entrepreneurship. Having observed the steep barrier that central vision loss creates for digital health adoption, he founded Groupe Arex IA Inc. to deliver empathetic, voice-first companion software that seniors can easily speak with and listen to.

Cloud & Artificial Intelligence Stack

Arex AI solutions are built using Google AI Studio, Gemini multimodal models, Google Cloud Speech-to-Text and Text-to-Speech, Cloud Run, Firestore, Cloud Storage, and Vercel. Our clinical pipeline utilizes Google Cloud Neural2 voice synthesis (en-US-Neural2-F) tuned to a senior-paced cadence of 0.95x speed to ensure clear auditory comprehension.

Clinical Feasibility Research

Groupe Arex IA Inc. is actively preparing a 12-week clinical feasibility and usability pilot study in collaboration with the American Macular Degeneration Foundation (AMDF) to clinically validate habit adherence and visual self-monitoring among dry AMD patients.
